An entity can do their payroll through simple transfer or cash handout, however, this is not recommended as you will not comply with WPS regulations, while, you don’t have regulatory proof of performing the payroll.

In case you are using Morouna, we can produce the file for your respective bank and provide you with an easy to use accessible system.

I am a new startup, can you explain to me what’s the payroll process?

You have two options of doing the payroll:

1. Simple transfer or cash handouts: this would enable your employees to receive their payroll however, this would make you not compliant to the WPS rules of MOL. As the way you receive the WPS file in which MOL needs is through the bank, while the bank cannot provide it in this case.

2. Through bulk transfers from the bank payroll system: This would enable your employees to receive their payroll as well as make you compliant with the WPS rules. However, you cannot perform this unless you have signed a payroll agreement with your respective bank. In case you have signed up for a payroll agreement, you will receive a file, most commonly an excel file, to fill the employee’s information. The bank system will process this file in order to perform the underlying payrolls.

Please note, Morouna can save you time and effort.

First, you need to sign for a payroll agreement with your respective bank in order for you to allow them to do the payroll for your employees. Please note, your bank may charge you for this agreement and may charge additional transfer fees.

Second, if you signed the payroll agreement, depending on the bank, you will receive an excel file to fill in the employee information, as the bank system processes the excel file. Certain banks will ask you to input the information in the excel file and then process a text or CVS file. Please note, here is where Morouna could support you, as our system will produce the file needed, therefore, you can bypass using the excel file and use Morouna instead. In Morouna we produce the bank file for the following banks: Banque Saudi Fransi, National commercial Bank, Riyad Bank, Al Rajhi Bank (and the same format for SAMBA Financial Group), Saudi British Bank, Saudi Investment Bank, HSBC.Net (service). In case you are using Morouna, you will send the payroll file produced to your respective bank in order for the payroll information to be processed.

Third, as soon as the bank uses the payroll file created when entering employee information, you will notice that your bank statement will show the amount of the transfer the same as in the file generated by Morouna.

Fourth, in case your payroll information is processed successfully, you will receive the Wage Protection System file (WPS) which you attach in Ministry of Labor website (www. MOL.com.sa). When you attach the file, this would indicate your compliance to the WPS regulations.
